The space of the Symposium is open to the public throughout the duration of the event. The interactions between the artists and the surrounding community, the works, and their placement in a public area, all these experiences weave a complex web of stimuli. The visitors have the capability to observe the artists process of creating a sculpture and to come into immediate contact with the artists practicing their craft. It’s an opportunity for children to meet the magical world of art from close-up.
The Sculpting Symposium began in the summer of 2018 and the final sculptures are displayed in the fields around Cycladia.
Cycladia organised the 2nd Naxian Marble Sculpting Symposium in cooperation with Dimitris Varsos.
In August of 2020, the Sculpting Symposium continues, this time in the fields around Cycladia in Damalas, Naxos.
