A living meeting place: a functioning cradle of culture and education on our island is for all of us residents and our children an irreplaceable part of our life. Especially during the long winter months, it is a shelter for spending time with friends, playing music, meeting new people, cooking and sharing a meal, co-working, having classes, welcoming newcomers on the island, forming groups and discussing projects.

Creative Projects

A number of projects and groups have been formed between the people regularly visiting the space. These have occasionaly led to presentations and concerts that continued beyond the island of Naxos:

  • 'Kelados' a traditional Greek music ensemble
  • 'Soxan' a Modern Dance Video Project
  • 'Stories in the Middle of the Earth' a narrating musical play
  • 'Ogygia' an ode to returning to sacred time
  • 'Let me tell you two stories' a theatrical play written by Gianni Rondari
  • 'Sunday Music Lab' an open group of musical improvisation and experimentation

Classes

It provides space for numerous cycles of classes both for adults and children: the Contemporary Music Workshop 'School of Rock', the Traditional Music Workshop, Art for Kids, Drawing & Painting lessons, Yoga and Movement, Theater classes for children and adults, Chess lessons, Marble Sculpture lessons, Dance, Singing and more.

Evening Gathering

For a period of years we held the Evening Gathering every Friday afternoon where the focus was a single subject. The goal has been sharing and creating different ideas around the subject.
The Evening Gathering has taken the form of presentations, lectures, conversations, concerts, and productions. These have been either finalised products or ideas in the making. Some of the presentations and discussions were:

  • 'The Joy of Learning' by Christos Georgousis
